Scholarship FAQ

Who can apply?

The Inspiring Futures Scholarship is open to all employees.

Before applying make sure you meet all of the following eligibility criteria:

  • Must be US Citizen
  • Must be 16 years or older
  • Must have obtained a high school diploma or GED as of June 1, 2019.
  • Must be a degree-seeking student (actively taking courses to obtain degree in certain field)
  • Must be enrolled in at least part time course of study at an accredited two- or four year college, university, vocational-technical school or hospital school of nursing.
  • Must be an employee of Mister Car Wash or a dependent.
  • Employee must have worked for Mister Car Wash (or prior acquisition) for six consecutive months as of application date. (Employees who are temporary or on severance or suspended for disciplinary reasons are not eligible)
How are recipients of the scholarship award chosen?
  • A panel of judges will review and grade only the essay portion of each application. Applicant data will remain confidential until award is set to be processed.
  • Recipients are selected based on demonstrated leadership, work ethic, statement of goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, and explanation of the Mister Car Wash mission statement and its meaning to the participant.
  • Not all applicants will be selected as recipients.
If I am chosen, how will I be notified?

Once all applications have been reviewed by our panel of judges, recipients will be notified by their local team that they have been awarded a scholarship.

What are the essay questions?

The essay portion of the application consists of three prompts. Essays should be no longer than 500 words.

  1. Describe your plans as they relate to your educational and career objectives. Include both long- and short-term goals.
  2. Describe how and when any unusual family or personal circumstances have affected your achievement in school, work, experience, or your participation in school and community activities.
  3. What does the Mister Car Wash mission statement – “Inspiring People to Shine” mean to you?
How will the essay be scored?

There are total of 10 points available on the essay portion. Essays will be scored according to the following rubric:

Goals and Aspirations Applicant has clear understanding of desired path and best ways to accomplish goals Applicant has an idea of desired path and shows examples of how to accomplish goals Applicant shows uncertainty of desired path and goals No path or goals provided
Unusual Circumstances Events created and extreme difficulty on a personal level and interfered with their ability to accomplish goals for the applicant Events created a slight difficulty on a personal level and interfered with their ability to accomplish goals for the applicant Events created difficulty but did not interfere with goal accomplishments No unusual circumstances
Mission Statement Shows passion for the Mister Car Wash mission statement and has demonstrated understanding and application through actions and attitudes Shows an understanding of the mission statement and how it could apply to them personally Shows an understanding of the statement but is unclear of how to apply it personally Shows no understanding of mission statement
